Eun Se Baik, Ph.D. is a sociologist specializing in the study of international migration, education, racial and ethnic relations, and transnational processes. Baik received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Harvard University in November 2024 and is a visiting scholar at Seoul National University’s Institute for Social Development and Policy Research.

 

Her research explores the experiences of and relationships between immigrants, temporary migrants, and non-migrants in transnational social spaces. Her dissertation is a qualitative study of the transnational transmission and transformation of educational norms, practices, and institutions between immigrants, temporary migrants, and non-migrants in Korea and the U.S. Articles based on her dissertation have been published in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and Migration Studies.

 

Before coming to Harvard, she received a B.A. in sociology and psychology from Columbia University in 2015. She was born and grew up in Seoul, Korea.
